How should Spotify have compensated Snoop Dogg?
This week, Snoop Dogg opened up about the amount of money he was paid by Spotify with one billion listeners during an interview on the Business Untitled podcast. Uncle Snoop expressed his dissatisfaction with the payments.

“In the world of streaming music, I could show you right now, they sent me some sht from Spotify where I got one billion streams,” Snoop Dogg said. “My publisher called me. I said, ‘Break that sht down. What is that?’ That sh*t wasn’t even $45,000.”
Spotify recently made headlines when the company announced it would adjust its royalty system. This meant that songs would now require 1,000 listeners to qualify for payment, raising questions about how much artists are paid, especially when their songs reach one billion listeners.
The platform is reported to pay approximately $0.003 per stream. In theory, Snoop Dogg should have earned at least three million dollars (7.5 billion Tanzanian Shillings) for reaching one billion listeners.
