The family of Peter Anthony Morgan, the lead vocalist and co-founder of the acclaimed reggae band Morgan Heritage, has sadly announced his passing at the age of 46 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Affectionately known as Peetah Morgan, he was the offspring of the renowned Jamaican reggae artist Denroy Morgan. In 1994, Peetah co-founded Morgan Heritage with his four siblings, garnering significant acclaim, including winning a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2016 for their album “Strictly Roots.”
Peetah and his brother Roy “Gramps” Morgan, who had moved to Tennessee, consistently highlighted the tradition of storytelling through music, particularly evident in reggae and country genres. The Morgan family’s mission was to bridge cultural divides and convey narratives of adversity and perseverance through their music.
Peetah’s siblings – Una Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan – played vital roles in founding and propelling Morgan Heritage to international acclaim. Each contributed significantly to the band’s unique sound and widespread recognition.
