Form FOUR Results 2023/2024 | CSEE NECTA (Matokeo ya Kidato Cha Nne 2024)
Results for the Form Six examinations in 2024 have been announced by the Tanzania National Examination Board (NECTA). The National Examination Results are now available.
Before the formal establishment of NECTA by law in 1973, and after Tanzania Mainland withdrew from the East African Examinations Council in 1971, the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum and Examinations Section used to administer all exams.
Following NECTA’s establishment, it became legally responsible for conducting the examinations. Until 1975, the Ministry of Education and the University College, Dar es Salaam, maintained control over the Curriculum. Later, in 1975, the newly founded independent Institute of Curriculum Development (ICD) took over, and in 1993, it was renamed the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE).

NECTA hired its first employees from 1972 to 1976, with Mr. P. P. Gandye being one of them. He joined in 1972 and later became the executive secretary in 1994. Additional staff members were continually hired, especially during the relocation of NECTA’s headquarters from the Ministry of Education to the current location near Mwenge in Kijitonyama. Currently, over 340 people are working with NECTA.

The Establishment of NECTA
The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) became a government institution through Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973. NECTA is responsible for overseeing all national examinations and assessments in Tanzania, including the recently released Form Six results for 2023.
The decision to establish NECTA was prompted by Tanzania Mainland’s withdrawal from the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) in April 1971, leading to the country’s independent administration of exams. Zanzibar had earlier resigned from the EAEC in 1970.
Before the withdrawal, Tanzania participated in joint East African and international secondary school examinations, previously conducted solely by the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, from 1968 to 1971. The recently announced Form Six results for 2023 are part of NECTA’s ongoing efforts in this role.
