The Mpesa VISA Card is a virtual payment card designed to facilitate online transactions for goods and services using your card details. Unlike traditional physical cards, the Mpesa VISA Card is virtual, meaning you won’t receive a physical card. Instead, you’ll receive the card details via SMS, including the virtual card number, expiration date, CVV (Card Verification Value), and any other relevant information necessary for online use.

This virtual card is not a credit card, charge card, or debit card linked to a current M-Pesa account. It is generated through the M-Pesa channel (such as STK, USSD, or the M-Pesa app) by the user. Funds must be topped up onto the card at the time of creation or purchase.

The CVV (Card Verification Value) is a unique code used to verify that the cardholder has physical access to the card they’re using for online transactions, enhancing security.

To create a Mpesa VISA Card:

For M-PESA USSD (*150*00#):
1. Dial *150*00# for M-Pesa USSD.
2. Select “Pay by M-Pesa” (Option 4).
3. Choose “M-PESA Visa Card” (Option 6).
4. Select “Create Card” (Option 1). Upon successful creation, you’ll receive an SMS with your card details.
On the M-PESA app:
1. Log in to your M-Pesa app.
2. Navigate to the “Services” tab.
3. Select “M-PESA Visa Card.”
4. Click on “Create M-PESA Visa Card.” Your card details will be provided upon completion of the creation process.
