Typically held in June and July, the finals were rescheduled to January and February 2024 to avoid the rainy season in Ivory Coast.

Has Ivory Coast hosted AFCON before
Ivory Coast hosted the tournament previously in 1984, featuring eight teams organized into two groups of four. In the semifinals, following the group stage, Nigeria triumphed over Egypt, and Cameroon emerged victorious against Algeria, both matches going to penalties. Algeria secured a 3-1 victory in the final.
Ivory Coast claimed AFCON titles in 1992 and 2015. In the 2015 final, they defeated Ghana 9-8 on penalties after a goalless draw.
Where is the next AFCON? 2025, 2027 hosts
In a Caf ceremony held in September 2023, Morocco was designated as the host for 2025, while a collaborative bid by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania secured the hosting duties for 2027. Two other bids for 2025, submitted by Zambia and a joint Nigeria-Benin campaign, withdrew, enabling Morocco to demonstrate its hosting capabilities, potentially bolstering its joint bid with Portugal and Spain for the 2030 FIFA World Cup—a bid that was declared successful the subsequent month.
